Göppingen: Hiking, City Tours, Shopping

The Hohenstaufen with its striking cone shape forms not only the landmark for the city of Göppingen but at the same time is the center of the Staufer Land, that region steeped in history, in which the famous imperial family had its origin around Frederick I, called Barbarossa. The ruins of the ancestral castle of the Staufers is located on the 684 meter / 2,223 foot mountain. From there you can enjoy a fantastic 360-degree view of the entire county of Göppingen. You look in silence at the beautiful Staufer Land, borrow audio guides free of charge, sit down on a chaise wave or a wooden bench and immerse yourself in myths, history, and songs all about the mountain.

The idyllic scenery around the Three Imperial Mountains Hohenstaufen, Rechberg, and Stuifen offers ideal conditions for very enjoyable hiking and walking. Young and old can experience the beautiful scenery and the impressive views around Göppingen with the seven new Göppingen circular trails and the two Lion's Paths certified by the German Hiking Association. There is something for every hiking fan – from the 3.5 kilometer / 2.19 mile long Sunday midday hike or walk, to the one-day tour with a length of 12.8 kilometers / 8 miles on the trail of the Staufers up to the 26 kilometer / 16.25 mile long two-day tour across the Three Imperial Mountains.

If you would rather devote yourself to the history of the Hohenstaufen City and its different main topics, you will get your money's worth in Göppingen with the wide-ranging topical city tour program. We would be happy to arrange a city tour for groups for your desired date.
